Raw Flaw by Pihla Jaala & Laura Ahumada Garcia.
Meet Pihla Jaala (FIN) a dance artist, educator and social educator and Laura Ahumada García (CL) a dance artist, educator and choreographer. They will be showing a work in progress “Raw flaw” followed by a workshop.
Both artists coming from contemporary dance, Breaking and Capoeira. They would like to explore what it means for assumed female bodies to be perceived doing these practices. Allowing ourselves to be raw, something that is not ready yet. To be in a motion with our femininity. The duo wants to embody flaws and imperfections. The aim is to share the different dynamics and energies with floor work, allowing ourselves to express our physical experiences through movement. The show and workshop is for everyone over 18 years old.
Improvisation Classes:
Together we will put emphasis on cultivating spontaneity, creativity, presence, and authenticity in movement. We will create a safe and supportive environment where participants are encouraged to explore and express themselves freely through dance. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to improvise – it’s all about embracing your unique movement style and letting your body respond intuitively to the moment.
The classes involves guided exploration of movement. Myself as a facilitator will provide prompts or cues to inspire movement, such as imagery, emotions, or sensations. You’ll be encouraged to experiment with different qualities of movement, levels, dynamics, and spatial pathways as well as improvisational scores or frameworks. These are specific guidelines that provide a framework for improvisation, such as using a particular motif, exploring a theme, or following a set sequence of movements.
